At the end of June, Justin, Lauren and their 15month old daughter Morgan (The Jonesys) will be walking from the centre of Australia. We hope to walk near Kaltukatjara (Docker River), NT to the coast at Port Augusta, SA, pending appropriate permissions. The journey will span approximately 1800km and over three months we will travel this distance entirely on foot. We will be pulling our provisions behind us in two carts. Justin will contain all our food provisions, water and camping gear we need to thrive in the rugged outback and Lauren’s will house Morgan and her kit. Over the three months out there we will travel to some of Australia’s most iconic locations including: Uluru, Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), Mount Connor, Lake Eyre, Lake Torrens, Dalhousie Springs to name a few.
Our aim is to combine family life and an adventurous life. Justin was recently named one of Australia’s 50 greatest explorers by the Australian museum. Although he is one of Australia’s most significant young explorers, he has yet to do a large expedition in Australia. Our hope through this expedition is to connect and immerse ourselves into the centre of Australia, to country and culture. Given the unique and special nature of this trip, we have decided to do this trip as a family and take our daughter with us.
